Film Studies Professor Joshua Neves renewed as a Canada Research Chair in Global Emergent Media

The Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema is pleased to announce Film and Moving Image Studies Professor Joshua Neves as one of five Concordia professors to be renewed as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair.

Dr. Neves’ research focuses on new media, technology, circulation networks and how they shape the way we understand culture, politics and knowledge. Neves’ pedagogical approaches privileges a collaborative environment that encourages critical engagement with theory, analysis, and research-creation.

He is also the Director of the Global Emergent Media Lab (GEM Lab), a research platform that examines global media and media practices outside of the western epistemological context. The GEM Lab supports the CRC research work and lab activities focused on areas such as: Asian Media and Moderenities; Video Cultures; Media and Migration; Global Smart Technologies; Internet Television; and Videographic Research Methods.
