Biography

Biography

I am full professor and the RBC Professor in Responsible Organizations at Concordia. I am concerned about how organizations have implications for how we experience and do our work, including how organizations relate to inequalities, especially gender inequalities. My research is currently exploring how organizations contribute to upholding and disrupting gender inequalities.

My work has been published in leading academic journals, including Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Human Relations, Journal of Accounting & Economics, and Journal of Accounting Research. My research is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada.

In addition to my research work, I write for and engage with the media. I have published in The Conversation and The London School of Economics Business Review. In 2024, I was awarded the Chair Genre at the Institut du Genre of France’s CNRS. In 2023, I received the President’s Media Outreach Award from Concordia University for my publications in The Conversation.

I am the principal investigator on the SSHRC-funded research program “Disruptive Dames? The process of disruption underlying women’s transition into organizational leadership.” It explores the process underlying the disruption of gender inequalities in the leadership of for-profit organizations in Canada.

At Concordia, I have held the RBC Professorship in Responsible Organizations since 2013. Over my career, I have taught Disclosures of (Ir)responsible Organizations to Ph.D. students, Corporate Finance to MBA students, Accounting is Society to undergraduate students.

I received a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Rochester in the USA and a Master’s in Finance from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. I am an avid reader and practice yoga.
