Film Studies PhD student wins international dissertation award


Rachel Webb Jekanowski has just won the Society for Cinema and Media Studies prize for best PhD dissertation. Her project, entitled “A Nation of Fur, Fish, and Fuel: Documenting Resource Extraction in Canada,” was submitted for examination within Film Studies in 2018. It has now been acknowledged for its excellence by the world’s largest film and media studies academic association. After graduating from Concordia, Rachel took up a prestigious Banting postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial University.
