Loyola Medal

First recipient of the Loyola Medal from the field of performing arts in Canada

The Loyola Medal was presented to Canadian operatic contralto Maureen Forrester at a special ceremony on December 9, 1979, at Concordia's F.C. Smith Auditorium on the Loyola Campus.

A great Canadian, she is the first Loyola Medal recipient from the field of performing arts in Canada.

Following the presentation, Ms. Forrester responded musically, accompanied by the Montreal Chamber Singers under the direction of Mr. Harold Isaacs.

It was with the Elgar Choir of Montreal associated with the Montreal Chamber Singers that Ms. Forester began her singing career in Montreal.
