Viviane Saglier's research is concerned with the politics of past and present film culture in Palestine and in the broader Arab region. Her first monograph in progress, "Cinema of Dignity: Palestine, Infrastructure, and Liberation," analyzes the tensions between cinema, human rights discourses, and anticolonial resistance in Palestine. Her second book project traces feminist histories of decolonization across the Arab world. Outside the university, she co-curates programs of Arab cinema and political documentaries, as well as video exhibitions.
