Hi everyone! My name is Maria Paula Almendarez and I am part of the Welcome Crew Mentors. I am an undergraduate student studying industrial engineering at Concordia. I was born and raised in Honduras. I love to dance, especially to Latin music. I enjoy exploring new places in Montreal and watching movies and series.

The one thing I wished I would have known back in my first semester is…I wish I knew in my first semester the importance of having a balance in my life. I didn't realize how important it was that if I wanted to succeed academically, it was important to have a balance in other areas of my life as well.

A tip I have for new students is… Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Yes, it takes a lot of courage and humility but when you ask for help and take advantage of the resources in Concordia, you will realize new things and become the person you want to be.

My favorite part of being a Concordia student is… I like that Concordia is not just about academics. I love that Concordia offers different resources, workshops, and activities that help you grow and improve in your social, personal, and career life as well.
