What’s the difference between career counselling and career advising?
A career counsellor helps you make choices about your academic and career path based on your strengths and interests. They can help you find out what you can do with your degree, whether that means entering the job market or continuing your studies.
A career advisor helps you with your job search. They can give you tips and resources to help you land the job you want.
Not sure what you can do with your degree, or if you’re even in the right program? Meet with a career counsellor to:
Find out what you can do with your major
Choose the right degree for you
Plan for further education
Explore your strengths, interests, and passions to guide you to the right career path
Find out how your interests can influence your future career
Are you looking for a career-related job or part-time work? Meet with a career advisor to:
Find jobs in your field
Find career-related experience
Find a part-time or summer job
Improve your résumé and cover letter
Ace your next interview
Review your LinkedIn profile
Learn networking strategies
