Graduation & convocation

Graduation followed by convocation
Graduation
Graduation is successfully completing your degree.
Students finishing their courses in the Summer 2026 term must apply to graduate by July 1, 2026. Their degrees will be conferred in October 2026.
Students completing their courses in Fall 2026 term must apply to graduate between September 1 and November 1, 2026. Their degrees will be conferred in February 2027.
Convocation
Convocation is the ceremony that celebrates the end of studies. Students wishing to attend a ceremony must attend the one offered at the time of their graduation. Attending a future ceremony is not possible. The next convocation ceremony will be held on January 26 for students whose degrees are conferred in October (completion of studies in Summer 2026).
Faculty of Fine Arts celebrates convocation once per year in the spring. Students who complete their studies in the summer or fall terms will be invited to the once annual spring ceremony.
Important dates and deadlines
Place des Arts will be undergoing renovations in the fall of 2026 resulting in no availability during the fall months for our ceremonies. Other venues were explored, but either lacked availability or did not meet the unique needs of our ceremonies where graduates, some in wheelchairs or with mobility issues, require access to the stage. January 26 was the first availability to hold the ceremonies.
Due to time and space constraints, it is not possible to defer convocation attendance from January 26th to the spring 2027, or future ceremonies.

Students who apply to graduate by the graduation application deadline will receive an email once convocation registration opens approximately 6 weeks prior to the scheduled ceremony.
*The Faculty of Fine Arts ceremonies are held once per year at the spring convocation. All Fine Arts graduates will receive an email once spring convocation registration opens in mid-April.
Medals, awards and nominations
The deadline to submit nominations for medals and awards is April 7 each year.
Black Graduation
The Black Student Graduation Celebration is a moment to recognize and celebrate Concordia’s Black graduates for their hard work, contributions and achievements, and to usher them into a strong network of fellow graduates, faculty, staff and alumni.
Indigenous Graduation
Are you First Nations, Inuit or Métis and graduating? The Otsenhákta Student Centre (OSC) hosts an annual Indigenous Student Graduation Celebration, where you will be able to celebrate your achievements with friends, family and Concordia community. Graduating students must be registered with the OSC in order to participate.
