Guests

Concordia is happy to welcome family, friends and guests of graduates to convocation. This is your guide to attending and celebrating with your graduate.

Tickets

Convocation is a ticketed event. Graduates are given access to tickets once they have registered to attend convocation. Guests may not order tickets themselves.

Children

Children are welcome at the ceremony but must remain with guests until the event ends. Graduates will be seated together in the hall's front section, and children will not be allowed to sit among them or cross the stage with a graduate.

Children aged 5 and under may sit on a lap at the ceremonies and do not require a guest ticket. Adults attending with a young child must have a lap ticket. To obtain a lap ticket, please present yourself with the child to the "Marshaling Card Pick-Up" table across from the main entrance to Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier. The ticket must be collected prior to the ceremony start time. These tickets are required to have an accurate count of guests in attendance in the unlikely event of an evacuation.

Accessibility

Place des Arts is an accessible venue and can accommodate graduates and guests with disabilities. Attendees with reduced mobility, who may be using mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, or canes, should present themselves at the same door that the graduates use to enter the venue, one hour prior to the ceremony start time. Place des Arts ushers will escort guests with reduced mobility to designated wheelchair and accessible seating.

Letter of invitation

Guests wishing to request an official letter of invitation for visa purposes may send a request via email to students@concordia.ca. There is a fee of $20.00 CAD for letters of invitation. The request must include the following:

  • Full name of graduate
  • Student ID of graduate
  • Name of invitee(s) as they appear in their passports.
  • The relationship of invitee(s) to the graduate (ex: father, mother, etc.)

Failing to provide names exactly as they appear in passports will result in an additional $20.00 CAD charge should a revised letter be requested.

Gifts for graduates

Whether you select a bouquet of flowers or Concordia-themed memorabilia, we offer a range of choices for guests to find a meaningful token for the occasion. Options are available beforehand or at the ceremonies.
