DARE-DARE

Office with windows, red curtains and book shelves

Mission/mandate/about the organisation

DARE-DARE is a vibrant artist-run centre dedicated to bringing contemporary art into dialogue with the world around us. Rooted in Montréal’s Sud-Ouest borough, the centre activates public and unconventional spaces through projects that challenge the boundaries between art, everyday life, and civic engagement. From its cultural mediation hub and illuminated text sign, DARE-DARE explores, questions, and reimagines how art is created, shared, and experienced in today’s society. Supporting artists across generations—whether emerging or established—the centre encourages experimental and socially engaged practices. It thrives on collaboration, partnering with cultural, community, and non-art organizations to expand the reach and impact of contemporary art. Through research, creation, production, dissemination, publishing, workshops, artist talks, and public discussions, DARE-DARE stands as a key site for artistic experimentation and reflection in the public realm. It offers a supportive, stimulating environment where bold ideas take form and critical projects find space to grow.

Interest context

This internship offers a hands-on immersion in the life of a dynamic artist-run centre. Over 180 hours, the intern will play an active role in the centre’s operations and creative programming—gaining experience at the crossroads of art, community, and cultural management.

The internship focuses on three core components:

1.      Artistic Programming Support — assisting in the weekly dissemination of DARE-DARE’s public writing project and documenting its evolution through photography;

2.      Archival and Research Work — reviewing, digitizing, and organizing the centre’s visual and paper archives to preserve its rich artistic legacy;

3.      Event and Project Coordination — helping plan, execute, and evaluate an intensive 40-hour artistic event celebrating the centre’s 40th anniversary.

This opportunity is ideal for students interested in contemporary art, cultural programming, and arts administration. It provides a meaningful chance to contribute to a milestone project while developing professional experience within a forward-thinking, collaborative artistic environment.
