Mission/mandate/about the organisation

Our organization is committed to enhancing the quality of life of residents living in long-term care by promoting dignity, well-being, and meaningful engagement. Through arts therapy, we provide person-centred creative interventions that support emotional expression, cognitive stimulation, social connection, and overall quality of life. Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, we foster opportunities for residents to maintain their identity, autonomy, and sense of purpose while creating a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive care environment.

Areas of interest that can be explored through the internship

Our organization offers internship opportunities for music therapy students interested in working with older adults in long-term care. Interns will participate in person-centred music therapy services designed to enhance residents' emotional well-being, cognitive functioning, communication, and social engagement. They will gain experience facilitating individual and group music therapy sessions, collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team, documenting clinical observations, and adapting interventions to meet diverse physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. We welcome interns who are interested in developing their clinical skills, creativity, therapeutic use of music, and professional practice while contributing to a compassionate and supportive care environment.
