Project Description
This research assistantship supports the development of a revised FRQ research-creation grant application focused on improvisation, embodiment, race, gender, and interdisciplinary performance. The position will contribute to strengthening the project's literature review, conceptual framework, and methodological articulation in response to external reviewer feedback.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conduct academic database searches and identify relevant interdisciplinary scholarship.
- Locate and organize sources related to improvisation, embodiment, race, gender, jazz studies, performance studies, and dance studies.
- Create and maintain an annotated bibliography.
- Synthesize scholarly literature and prepare research summaries.
- Assist in identifying and articulating gaps in existing scholarship.
- Support the development and refinement of the project's methodological framework.
- Assist with documentation and organization of research materials.
- Other research tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program and registered in at least one course, in good standing.
- Have not been found guilty of academic misconduct at the University.
- Experience conducting academic literature reviews and database searches.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary humanities and arts-based research.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong reading, synthesis, and academic writing skills.
- Experience with Excel or similar tools for organizing research data is an asset.
