Graduate Diploma in Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA)

Program details

The Graduate Diploma in Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) is a 30-credit program. It comprises two courses in each of the two core modules, two elective courses and two capstone modules for a total of eight courses.

Flexible program schedules

 Students may follow a:

  • part-time Regular path (one or two courses per term)
  • full-time Accelerated path (Summer intake only; three courses per term)
  • a mix of both the Regular and Accelerated paths

Time to completion

Students take a total of eight courses* and can complete the program in as little as 15 months (four terms), but have four years (12 terms) to complete the program.

  • Students starting in the Summer who take two courses per term and may complete the program in four terms. 
  • Students staring in the Fall who take two courses per term and may complete the program in six terms. 
  • Students starting in the Winter who take two courses per term and may complete the program in five terms.

International students must possess a Canadian work permit in order to pursue the program, given the part-time nature of the Regular path and the leave of absence incorporated into the full-time Accelerated path. *Each course is worth four credits.

Class schedule

During the Fall and Winter terms, classes in the Regular path are typically held on Monday to Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m over 13 weeks. Friday classes may be scheduled, if necessary.

During the Summer term, classes in the Regular path are typically held on Monday to Thursday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m over 10 weeks.

Classes in the Accelerated path are held during the daytime for four hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (but usually in the morning), three day per week, over four weeks.

The schedule for the Summer Capstone courses is quite variable. Students are recommended to have highly reduced workload or to take a leave of absence from work during the Capstone courses.
