As part of our Graduate Fellows Lunchtime Seminars, the Social Justice Centre welcomes a talk by Ra’anaa Yaminah.
Title: "Futurities With(out) the Institution: The Emergence of Black Art and Activism in N’Swakamok."
Ra'anaa Yaminah Ekundayo is a multimedia visual activist whose practice extends between N’Swakamok (Sudbury, ON) and Tio’tia:ke (Montreal, QC). She has taken on many leadership roles, as an artist, activist, and academic creating space for people of colour and continually promoting anti-racist practices and social justice. She is impassioned by community-engaged art and the notion that art should be inherently accessible. She further explores this passion with ardour in her roles as Chair of Black Lives Matter Sudbury and as Installation Coordinator for Up Here: Urban Arts Festival. Ra’anaa Yaminah is a PhD student in Art History and a graduate fellow at the Social Justice Centre.

Dans le cadre de nos séminaires du midi, le Centre de justice sociale accueille une conférence de Ra'anaa Yaminah.
Titre : "Futurities With(out) the Institution: The Emergence of Black Art and Activism in N’Swakamok."
Ra'anaa Yaminah Ekundayo est une activiste visuelle multimédia dont la pratique s'étend entre N'Swakamok (Sudbury, ON) et Tio'tia:ke (Montréal, QC). Elle a assumé de nombreux rôles de leadership, en tant qu'artiste, activiste et universitaire, en créant un espace pour les personnes de couleur et en promouvant continuellement les pratiques antiracistes et la justice sociale. Elle est passionnée par l'art engagé dans la communauté et par l'idée que l'art devrait être intrinsèquement accessible.
