Implementation of the Learning for Impact strategic plan

This implementation plan outlines the goals developed by the Faculty of Arts and Science that align with the priorities established in the Learning for Impact strategic plan.

Teach for impact 

  1. Consolidate Experiential Learning (EL) by ensuring each program offers two EL opportunities.
  2. With partners, develop programming to support greater integration of Black scholarship in the curriculum.
  3. With partners, develop programming to support decolonization of the curriculum.
  4. Improve communication of program outcomes for undergraduate students.
  5. Support greater teaching innovation through programming.

Learner well-being and success

  1. Support for faculty who wish to make their course more inclusive by decolonizing, infusing Black scholarship or focusing on Universal Design for Learning.
  2. With the School of Graduate Studies, Student Success Centre and Career Advising and Planning, make post-graduation possibilities for undergraduate programs better known.
  3. Organize at least one gathering of program directors and advisors to share and learn from each other to improve service.

Value teaching

  1. With the Centre for Teahing and Learning (CTL), offer workshops on awards to promote and reward teaching excellence.
  2. With the CTL, offer one FAS-oriented pedagogical workshop per term on teaching.
  3. Participate in CTL mentorship & Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) programs.

Promote human-centred systems

  1. Participate in Moodle enhancement project with expertise and feedback.
  2. Offer feedback on transparency efforts with IITS.
  3. Launch “Mapping the Curriculum” project to focus on timely completion, identify opportunities for cross-department collaborations, and remove redundancies in curricula.
  4. Participate with the Provost’s office in streamlining curriculum change processes.
