Courses offered
Campus Security & Emergency Services training courses are designed to better prepare individuals to deal with emergency situations both at home and in the workplace.
Note: Minimal attendance applies to all courses and information sessions. If the minimum attendance is not attained, the course will be canceled and participants will be offered an alternative date.
Emergency preparedness
This is a short 1.5-hour presentation to better prepare the Concordia community for the different emergencies that could occur on campus. It will cover the different risk, the corresponding procedures as well as details about the emergency notification system.
From medical emergencies to active shooters, find out what you need to know to stay safe and be prepared on campus.
We offer a personalized training to university students or employees with mobility issues. We will explain the procedure and show you what you need know and do in the event of an emergency and building evacuation. The training may include a demonstration on the use of Evac-chairs.

First aid & CPR training
This is a one-day (8-hour) basic first aid and CPR, level C course that is certified by the Heart and Stoke foundation.
Participants will learn adult, child and infant CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) as well as how to administer an EpiPen in cases of anaphylactic shock. The course will also cover how to deal with a choking victim as well as common medical situations and trauma.
Upon successful completion, candidates receive a certification electronic card from the Heart and Stroke Foundation which is valid for 3 years.
This course is open to the general public.
Courses begin at 09:00 and finish at 18:00.
The cost of the course is $90.00 per person.

This is a 4-hour, level C, cardio pulmonary resuscitation course certified by the Quebec Heart and Stoke Foundation.
Participants will learn the different CPR techniques applied to an adult, child and infant as well as how to deal with a choking victim and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator).
Upon successful completion, candidates receive a certification electronic card from the Heart and Stroke Foundation which is valid for 3 years.
This course is open to the general public.
Courses begin at 09:00 and finish at 13:00.
The cost of the course is $60.00 per person.

This course is only available to Concordia employees that are CERT trained.
This is a two-day (16-hour) basic first aid and CPR, level A course that is certified by the CNESST given to trained CERT employees.
Participants will learn adult CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) as well as how to administer an EpiPen in cases of anaphylactic shock. Concordia Emergency Response Team (CERT) training
Strongly recommended for CERT members:
The Concordia Emergency Response Team (CERT) are staff and student volunteers who are trained to assist during emergency situations that occur on campus. CERT are trained to assist during building evacuations and other emergencies that could occur at Concordia. The 3 hour orientation session provides knowledge of the role and responsibilities of CERT during an emergency and how to respond to different emergencies on campus. There is no charge for this training.

This 4-hour course provides participants with basic fire prevention best practices for both the home and workplace and a hands on training of the different types of fire extinguisher and the opportunity to practice using a fire extinguisher on a on a real fire simulator.
This course is free for university staff and currently registered students. The general public may register for the course at a cost of $45.00 per person.

By participating in this one-day workshop you will gain the confidence necessary to handle crisis situations with minimum anxiety and maximum security. The training is the first step on a meaningful journey toward a safer, more supportive work environment. Course handouts will be provided at the workshops.
