Campus Sustainability Month

A nesting pair of ravens at Concordia’s Loyola Campus is offering a glimpse into the university’s growing urban ecosystem. Their presence highlights ongoing efforts to support biodiversity through tree planting, no-mow zones, urban agriculture and garden spaces across campus.

Becoming a Fair Trade Campus distinguishes an educational institution as a leader in social justice. Through educational opportunities and by incorporating fair trade products into purchasing policies, Concordia is engaging students and faculty members in the fair trade movement.

Concordia’s sustainability efforts are gaining national recognition. The university has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2026. The award, presented by Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizer of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes organizations that embed sustainability into their operations and foster a culture of environmental awareness and action.

Concordia has earned top global rankings across three sustainability impact areas in the 2025 AASHE Sustainable Campus Index, ranking #1 in Transportation and #3 in both Energy & Climate and Investment. These results highlight Concordia’s leadership in advancing sustainability across campus operations and investment practices.
