Campus Sustainability Month
October 1 - November 4, 2023
October is a community-wide celebration of all things sustainable at Concordia
What is Campus Sustainability Month?
This month, Concordians are invited to a series of events, challenges, and activities related to sustainability and inspired by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
Campus Sustainability Month is a combination of in-person and virtual activities for home, the outdoors and both the Loyola and Sir George Williams campuses.
Campus Sustainability Month is organized into five themes:
- Sustainable Agriculture and Biodiversity Week, in line with World Vegetarian Day, features a plethora of gardening opportunities and events as well as a kick-off tabling event.
- Wellness Week, which revolves around World Mental Health Day, features self-care events that are perfect for the midterm break.
- Zero Waste Week, leading up to Waste Reduction Week, encourages Concordians to learn how to go zero waste.
- Climate Action Week, coinciding with the International Day of Climate Action, inspires us to think critically and apply that critical thought to our collective movement for climate justice.
- Fostering Community and New Futures Week, which brings the month to a close with a Halloween sustainability mixer where you are invited to meet people, learn about opportunities to build community, and kick back after mid-terms.
Please check this page often as new events and activities will be added throughout the month!
