Submitting your documents to the university
International Students must have valid immigration documents that cover the entire period of their studies in Canada. Concordia University must have a copy of these documents on file.
New students
You must submit your immigration documents by your first day of class.
If you don’t upload your required immigration documents to the Concordia Student Centre by the deadline, you will be de-registered after the term’s enrolment period ends.
To study at Concordia, you must have valid immigration documents as required by the governments of Quebec and Canada. The university is obligated to collect and maintain these documents for government reporting. Without them, we cannot confirm your authorization to study or allow you to remain enrolled.
Deferrals
If you don’t have your required immigration documents by the beginning of the term, you must defer your studies. Please contact the admissions officer or graduate program coordinator/admissions advisor listed in your Offer of Admission to request a deferral.
- If you have already applied for your CAQ, you can use it to start your studies at a later term.
- If you have not yet applied for your CAQ, simply use your deferred Offer of admission when you apply.
Returning students
You must submit your renewed document(s) by the date of expiration of your current document(s).
Note: If you are an international student who is also employed by Concordia, you must also submit a copy of these documents directly to Human Resources (payroll).

- A valid CAQ (Certificat Acceptation du Québec)
- A valid study permit
CAQ
In your Student Centre, upload your CAQ document under the option of Certificat Acceptation du Québec.
- Bachelors degree - Université Premier Cycle
- Masters degree - Université Deuxième Cycle
- Graduate Diploma/Certficate degree - Université Deuxième Cycle
- PhD degree - Université Troisième Cycle

Study permit
New students
Upload your study permit on your Student Centre.
Returning students/permit renewals
Upload your updated study permit or the submisssion confirmation of the study permit to confirm you have "maintained status". This is only applicable when you apply to renew the study permit from within Canada.
Note: If you are applying from outside Canada then you do not have maintained status.
Upload your study permit as shown below.


Students with diplomatic status
Required documents:
- Acceptance Counterfoil
- Office of the protocol Identity card
Upload your acceptance counterfoil under the option of study permit on your Student Centre.
As per R188(1)(a) dependents/family members of foreign representatives accredited by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) do not require a study permit.


Convention Refugee/Protected Persons/Refugee claimants
- CSQ (Certificat de Selection du Québec) or CAQ (Certificat Acceptation du Québec)
- a valid study permit
Both the documents must be uploaded to your Student Centre no later than the DNE date. Failure to do so will result in your courses being cancelled.
Students whose status as a convention refugee or protected person has been accepted by the Canadian Government need a CSQ (Certificat de Sélection du Québec) and a study permit:
- CSQ - Upload under option Certificat de selection on your Student Centre
- Study permit - Upload under option study permit on your Student Centre
Students who are Refugee claimants need a CAQ (Certificat Acceptation du Québec) and a study permit:
- CAQ - Upload under option Certificat Acceptation du Québec on your Student Centre
- Study permit - Upload under option study permit on your Student Centre

Important: Upload your study permit to your student service centre once you receive it and, at the latest, by the start of class of your first term.
