Position description
The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, invites applications for an Extended Term Appointment (ETA) in Clinical Psychology at the rank of Lecturer. The candidate is expected to teach graduate courses in the Clinical Psychology MA/PhD program mandated by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). The candidate will teach lecture-based and practicum courses in the areas of psychopathology, diagnostic evaluation, evidence-based interventions, and ethics. They will also provide clinical training and supervision in child and/or adult assessment and/or intervention. In addition, the candidate will be trained to take on the role of Clinic Director of the in-house Applied Psychology Centre which serves the community and provides supervised clinical training for graduate students. The candidate will also eventually take on direction of external practicum placements.
Faculty members holding ETA positions at Concordia are full-time faculty members whose primary duties include teaching and service, with no research obligations. The appointment affords the possibility of promotion and permanent status.
Qualifications and assets
Qualified current employees of Concordia University, as well as qualified external candidates, are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a CPA- (or equivalent) accredited program and have expertise in clinical assessment or intervention for children or adults. They must be an OPQ-licensed psychologist with at least two years of clinical experience in a hospital or similar professional setting. The successful candidate must be able to work with clients and professionals in both English and French.

Since this position supports academic functions of the university and clinical service needs, proficiency in both English and French is required.
Education at Concordia University is delivered largely in person; unless otherwise specified, candidates must be able to fulfil their teaching and service duties in person on campus. Where public health or other circumstances require it, candidates may be directed to provide instruction remotely.

The Department of Psychology is home to 43 faculty members, with research strengths in the areas of behavioural neuroscience, clinical and health, cognitive science, and human development. The department is one of the largest in the University, with over 2100 Psychology major/specialization/honours undergraduate students, and over 150 graduate students in our research and clinical research streams.
The department offers BA, BSc and PhD programs in Psychology, and BSc programs in Psychology and in Neuroscience. Programs are designed to give students a solid background in psychological theories, methods, research and applications. The goals of all programs are to foster informed and critical thinking based on a research-driven curriculum. This curriculum is not just important for those who wish to become researchers. Clinical psychologists, educators and physicians, along with people in marketing, management and human resources all use the information generated by psychological research in their work every day. People in a broad range of other professions need to be able to evaluate the results of research studies and to decide what treatments, policies or programs they will put into place. Therefore, our curriculum provides students with the skills to effectively use the results of research in their chosen careers.
The Department has a national and international reputation for research productivity and training. Each year researchers in the Department bring in over $4 million in external funding and publishes an impressive number of research articles in top-ranked scientific journals. The department is home to three Concordia University Research Centres including the Centre for Clinical Research and Health, the Centre for Research in Human Development, and the Centre for Studies in Behavioural Neuroscience. In addition, there are interest groups in Bilingualism, Cognitive Sciences, and the Person in Context (personality & sociocultural psychology).
