The Business Decarbonization Initiative's key activities include:

The purpose of the business decarbonization playbook is to offer practical guidance from a managerial perspective on how companies can start and navigate the journey of reducing or eliminating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The series is intended for medium-sized companies as they not only represent the largest number of companies and often are the economic backbone of society but also require a more hands-on and pragmatic approach to business decarbonization.

Drawing on practitioner know-how and academic expertise, the business decarbonization playbook gives business owners and managers of medium-sized companies the conceptual and practical toolkit to advance the decarbonization of their business.

Each year, the Business Decarbonization Initiative awards the KPMG Best Paper Award in Business Sustainability Research. The award recognizes the thought leadership and practical contributions of the selected, peer-reviewed academic article. 

The Business Decarbonization Initiative supports the advancement of business decarbonization knowledge through funding impactful research. It further fosters dialogue between students, researchers and industry practitioners through hosting roundtables and events. Similarly, it is actively involved in advancing education and training in business decarbonization.

Among others, the initiative supports the development of the Xperiential Decarb Suite, encompassing a series of educational games and learning activities on decarbonization, including:
