Position description

This is a tenure-track position in Business Technology Management/Information Systems at the rank of Assistant Professor. Duties include research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the institution. 

Qualifications and assets

Candidates must have completed their PhD or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact on their career goals in their letter of application. These will be carefully considered in the assessment process. 

Candidates are expected to teach in subjects such as database management, innovation management, strategic management of IT, information systems analysis, design and implementation, enterprise resource planning, and business application development. Knowledge of business analytics and artificial intelligence is an asset. The selected candidate will be actively involved in curriculum development in the Business Technology Management area. Applicants are expected to do research in the areas of information technology/systems management, digital innovation, strategic management of IT, artificial intelligence, and other related areas.

The Department of Supply Chain and Business Technology Management prepares students with an integrated set of decision-making skills to meet the organizational and managerial needs of the business world. The Major in Business Technology Management aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in information and communication technology, business process analysis, and project management. It prepares graduates for careers in various business technology areas such as information systems analysis and design, database administration, as well as management of information technology. The Major in Supply Chain Operations Management aims to provide the knowledge and skills needed for planning and execution of end-to-end supply chains. It provides students with sufficient academic, technical and professional foundations that will enable them to pursue a challenging and rewarding career that covers planning, procurement, manufacturing, services, transportation, logistics and distribution, among others. The Minor in Data Intelligence provides a knowledge base to complement the student’s program at the John Molson School of Business. With training in data modelling, forecasting and data mining, students learn to build models for analyzing business problems that help organizations avoid risk and exploit opportunities. The department also offers Master’s programs in Supply Chain Management and in Business Analytics and Technology Management.
