Written by Judith Thompson

Written by one of Canada’s most highly regarded playwrights, Lion In The Streets is rife with characters who speak the unspoken in scenes that suddenly shift rapid-fire, so that, like in a dream, the audience is on edge wondering where they are moment to moment.   Lion… is a dark play that forces us to live in a state of wonder, confronted by an unsettling world.

Directed by Laura Quigley

Laura Quigley is a writer, performer and producer of theatre. Her plays have been produced across Canada, in Wellington, Nz, New York and LA.  Laura is deeply curious about the possibilities of the human voice. Her work pushes the boundaries of conventional vocal sound into that territory that is intimate, uncomfortable and yet familiar. The aim is to explore what might be buried beneath the surface of silence and speech in order to connect with her audiences in a visceral way.  Laura holds a Masters in Theatre Studies from the University of Guelph, a BFA in Contemporary Theatre from Simon Fraser University, and she is a certified teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®.  She has taught acting, devising, voice and movement for more than a decade both privately and institutionally in Montreal, Guelph, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico, New York and LA.
