Registration tips for new graduate students in Economics

Our Economics Graduate Team has put these tips together to help you select your courses for the current academic year. Before we start, please note that:

  •  The Offer of Admission that you received by email includes essential information about the conditions of your admission and your degree requirements. Make sure to read it very carefully, and to consult this page for tips about understanding your Offer of Admission.
  • Consult the Registration guide for information about using Concordia's online system.

Graduate Diploma in Economics

Students are encouraged to register to the following courses for their first semester:
To transfer from the Diploma to the MA:                                         
  • ECON 501
  • ECON 503
  • ECON 521
To stay in the Diploma:
  • ECON 501
  • ECON 503
  • Any Qualifying program (QP) requirement OR ECON 500-level   

MA in Economics

Students are encouraged to register to the following courses for their first semester:

With Qualifying Program (QP) requirements:

  • 1 QP course (e.g., ESL courses)
  • 2 out of 3: ECON 612, 615, or 680

 

Without Qualifying Program (QP) requirements:
  • 2 out of 3 ECON 612, 615, or 680, plus 1 elective OR
  • All 3 courses: ECON 612, 615, and 680

PhD in Economics

Students are encouraged to register to the following courses for their first semester:
  • ECON 612, 615, and 680
  • Qualifying Program (QP) requirements should be taken within the first year. ESL courses are offered during the Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters.
