The Department advances innovative, socially engaged research that strengthens understanding of today’s most pressing issues and contributes to public knowledge locally and globally.

Faculty expertise spans areas such as race and ethnic relations, comparative social history, social theory and cultural sociology, with strong support for student participation in research at all levels.

Research streams
