Communications Program Assistant, FutureBound

FutureBound is Concordia University’s skill development program for undergraduate students. Our low-stakes, high-impact workshops help students develop and practice the skills they need to thrive during and beyond university.

Role

The Communications Program Assistant plays a key role in shaping how we communicate our impact, tell our story, and connect with students, partners, and supporters.

This role is ideal for a student with strong writing skills, a strategic mindset, and an interest in how communications can support student success, partnership-building, and funding development.

  • Content creation & editing: Write and edit a range of content including social media posts, newsletters, website updates, workshop descriptions, promotional materials, and internal communications.
  • Communications strategy: Help implement and refine FutureBound’s communications and outreach strategy, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement across all channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletter, email, website, print).
  • Writing & reporting: Contribute to the development of high-quality written materials that support program growth and visibility, such as funding proposals, program updates, outreach materials and student impact stories.
  • Outreach & engagement: Contribute to outreach efforts by developing targeted messages and materials for student associations, departments, and campus events.
  • Team collaboration & support: Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and planning activities to support the ongoing growth and visibility of the program.

  • A current graduate student with demonstrated strength in written communication
  • You enjoy writing across formats – from social media posts to newsletters to donor reports
  • Experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields
  • Interest in storytelling, education, and student development
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment

  • Relationship-builder: At all FutureBound events and interactions, you ensure participants are ready to learn and that the facilitator has everything they need to run a great workshop. You are kind, friendly, and supportive with your colleagues.
  • Organized, detail-oriented with strong coordination skills: You demonstrate attention to detail with all responsibilities. You approach projects in a systematic, consistent and efficient way. You triple-check data and request feedback when necessary.
  • Collaborative & team-oriented: You take an inclusive approach to all projects, and support colleagues to achieve their goals with humility and enthusiasm.
  • Proactive & resourceful: You do what it takes to get your job done. You fulfill daily responsibilities and take initiative at all FutureBound events to ensure they run as smoothly as possible.

Hourly rate: $17.10 - 18.60/hour (based on degree level)

Program Assistant, FutureBound

FutureBound is Concordia University’s skill development program for undergraduate students. Our low-stakes, high-impact workshops help students develop and practice the skills they need to thrive during and beyond university.

Role

The Program Assistant plays a key student-facing role with a focus on hosting events, running logistics, and promoting workshops on campus.

This role is ideal for an organized, enthusiastic student with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in helping others succeed.

  • Daily operations: Support the program’s day-to-day operations, including managing workshop registrations, tracking attendance and certificates, maintaining databases, and responding to student inquiries.
  • Workshop hosting & event support: Assist with hosting and facilitating FutureBound workshops and events (both virtual and in-person), helping to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Outreach & promotion: Lead and participate in outreach activities such as classroom announcements, orientation events, meet-and-greets, and tabling to raise awareness of FutureBound across campus.
  • Administrative support: Help coordinate workshop logistics and maintain communication with facilitators, participants, and partners.
  • Team support & collaboration: Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and planning activities to support the ongoing growth and visibility of the program.
  • Program development & feedback: Support ongoing program improvements by sharing insights from student interactions and assisting with feedback collection and analysis.

  • A current undergraduate student, ideally an active FutureBound participant
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging with peers
