Concordia economics professor is elected fellow of the international Econometric Society

Prosper Dovonon becomes the first in his department to receive such an honour

Prosper Dovonon, Concordia associate professor of economics, has been elected fellow of the Econometric Society. The international organization is dedicated to the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics. Among other duties, the society is responsible for publishing three respected journals dedicated to econometrics: Econometrica, Quantitative Economics and Theoretical Economics.

“I am thrilled to have been elected fellow of the Econometric Society,” Donovon says.

“Receiving recognition like this is not just an honour for me as an individual. It also speaks to the excellent work the Department of Economics produces every day. I want to thank the Econometric Society.”

Jorgen Hansen, chair of the department, calls Dovonon’s election as fellow fantastic news.

“Prosper joins a very select group of world-renowned and distinguished economists. The fellowship is a true testament to his outstanding research performance and service to the community,” Hansen says.

“It will also further strengthen the reputation of the department and help us attract top talent to our programs.”

Dovonon is the first-ever member of Concordia’s Department of Economics to receive this prestigious appointment.
