Job description:

The Lab Manager and Group Leader will take care of basic research tasks to maintain the Howarth Group’s Research Program while Dr. Ashlee Howarth is on Sabbatical.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Synthesis, characterization and testing of metal–organic frameworks for industrially relevant applications
  • On-boarding exchange students and new graduate students, including basic laboratory training
  • Supervise student Research Assistants, providing guidance and assistance as needed
  • Making group and subgroup meeting schedules
  • Ordering laboratory supplies
  • Maintaining basic laboratory equipment 

Qualifications/skills required:

  • PhD in Inorganic Materials Chemistry with at least 6 years of experience synthesizing and characterizing metal–organic frameworks.
  • Fluency in English 
  • Excellent communication abilities to be able to adequately onboard and supervise student employees
  • Detail-oriented with robust organizational skills
