RESEARCH SPACES
Advanced labs, state-of-the art equipment, workstations, studios and more, our four Faculties offer our researchers the space and resources needed to engage in innovative discoveries.
PERFORM Centre
PERFORM's 8,000 m2 facility houses laboratories, conditioning equipment and functional assessment suites each dedicated to research. All its facilities were designed to foster a multidisciplinary environment in which researchers can work towards achieving better health through prevention.
Fine Arts Core Technical Centres
The Core Technical Centres are four fully-equipped facilities available to all Fine Arts students, faculty and researchers in the areas of metalworking, woodworking, maquette building and digital fabrication. The facilities also encompass certain auxiliary spaces, including a spray booth and short-term assembly spaces.
Solar Simulator – Environmental Chamber
Through the Centre for Zero Energy Building, Engineering students have access to an internationally unique laboratory, including a two-storey high environmental chamber with a mobile solar simulator lamp field used to test building technologies under controlled environmental conditions (from arctic to desert).
Performance facilities
High-quality dance floors, “smart” classrooms with networked multimedia, mixing and playback capabilities, electroacoustic studios - including an octophonic studio - and several state-of-the-art performance venues allow students to let their creativity run free.
Genome Foundry
The Centre for Applied Synthetic Biology hosts a one-of-kind synthetic biology foundry. The CASB is Canada’s first and only research centre dedicated to the development and application of foundational technologies in synthetic biology.
Centre for NanoScience research
The Centre for NanoScience Research engages in multiple areas of nanotechnology research, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. Researchers have access to the material characterization and analytical separations labs as well as facilities in laser spectroscopy and surface characterization.
Composite manufacturing
Through the Centre for Composites, researchers in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering can access a variety of facilities and a laboratory to engage in the manufacturing of polymer matrix composites and nanocomposites.
