Rachna Raj · PhD candidate, Software Engineering

Awarded a 2025 Google North America PhD Fellowship in Software Engineering and Programming Languages, supported by Google.org. Raj is developing tools and analytics to improve the reliability and sustainability of open source software. Her research helps project maintainers understand how their software is used, detect issues early in development, and strengthen collaboration with users.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar

Francesco MacAllister-Caruso · PhD candidate, Political Science

Recognized as a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar for their studies on the representation of Two-Spirit, trans, and nonbinary people in Canadian electoral politics. Having started a master's degree in 2021, Francesco's accomplishments led them to be fast-tracked into the doctoral program in 2023. Since then, Francesco has won several awards, including the Vanier and Ricard Scholarships.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar

Pablo Gershanik · PhD candidate, Individualized Program

Recognized as a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar for his research-creation work on art in post-violence contexts. His project explores how artistic practices can address memory, trauma, and resilience, building on his Laboratoire de Maquettes Intimes, which engages personal and collective histories, including those shaped by Argentina's past. Through interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches, his work seeks to create artistic tools that give voice to hidden experiences and foster dialogue within communities.

Tri-Agency Doctoral · Vanier Scholars

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

The Vanier program positions Canada as a global centre of excellence in graduate research by supporting candidates who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement. SGS coordinated the internal adjudication that identified and forwarded Concordia's candidates, and supported each recipient at every stage — from shaping the research proposal and leadership statement to identifying referees and refining the final submission. This year, two Concordia doctoral students joined the cohort of Vanier Scholars awarded across Canada.

Kay Ponthieux

PhD candidate · History

Recognized for research on Montreal's Jewish community and its engagement in left-wing politics.
