Frequently asked questions
Concordia University's Graduate and Professional Skills program provides free workshops and resources that are tailored to graduate students' needs. Our workshops develop professional skills, complement graduate academic studies and help prepare our graduates for their chosen career. GradProSkills is housed within the School of Graduate Studies.
Registration for GradProSkills activities is reserved for current Concordia graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Graduate students who have completed their degree are able to take GradProSkills workshops up to two terms after completing their program. There is no cost for eligible students and postdoctoral fellows to participate in GradProSkills.
First you must register for the GradProSkills webinar in MyConcordia.
At least two days prior to the webinar date you will receive an email with the zoom classroom login instructions. It will be sent to the email address you have on file in your MyConcordia account. You must login to our online classroom using the name on your student account to be counted as attended. Please note, it is possible that our instructional email is filtered to your spam/promotion folder.
At least two days prior to the webinar date you should have received an email with the zoom classroom login instructions. Common reasons for not receiving the email include:
- Incomplete registration: Confirm that the workshop was not left in your "course cart."
- Filtered into you spam/promotional folder: Webinar instructions are sent by either gradproskills@concordia.ca or gradproskills-registration@concordia.ca. Please ensure these addresses are added to your safe sender list.
- Wrong email: Webinar instructions are sent to the email you have identified as your primary email in your student centre. Please confirm you are checking the correct email account.
If you are still unable to locate the webinar instructions, please email us at gradproskills@concordia.ca.
Refer to the GradProSkills policies page.
See our detailed Add/drop a workshop page.
Common problems experienced during registration are:
- Trying to register after the registration/drop deadline: You will need to email us to request a manual registration. We cannot guarantee that late requests will be processed.
- Not selecting the correct career and term: The correct career is "professional development" and it is listed under "non-credit courses."
- Not knowing the course number: The course number is not the code on our website. To find the workshop you need to click on "Search." Next, under “Select Subject” type the workshop subject code (for example: GPLL) & under “Course Number”, type the workshop number (for example: 24).
- Not completing the full registration process: Ensure that the workshop is not left in your "course cart" and you have received a confirmation message. Once you have completed the registration process, the workshop will show in your schedule.
For further registration problems, please contact us. Ensure you include your name, student ID, workshop code and a brief description of your issue.
You can view the upcoming workshops for which you are registered in your Student Centre. Here are the steps to follow:
- Log in to www.myconcordia.ca
- Click on My Student Centre – then again on My Student Centre.
- Click on “Search for Classes” in the upper right side of the screen.
- Click on the purple “Enroll” tab located at the top of the screen.
- Select the current semester and “Professional Development” as the “Career”. Click “continue”
- You can see the schedule at the bottom of the screen. The classes with a green checkmark indicate the classes you are enrolled in, the classes with a blue X indicate the workshops which you have dropped.
Every workshop has a drop deadline that is listed on the workshop description. We ask you to drop the workshop in advance of this drop deadline to avoid being penalized and to allow us to offer your spot to another student from the waitlist.
For Winter 2021, we are exceptionally waiving our non-attendance fees, however students who repeatedly do not adhere to the drop deadline, will be removed from all future workshops for which they are registered.
If you need to miss a workshop for a valid reason and you are past the drop deadline, please email gradproskills@concordia.ca and include appropriate documentation. Remember to include your full name, student ID number as well as workshop code. For example, for a medical emergency, please include a doctor's note attesting your inability to attend school during the time of the workshop.
Please note: Students dropping a workshop must do so within the deadline, otherwise they will be marked as Did Not Attend (DNA) and penalized.
Students who have a hold on their student account (either academic or administrative) are not blocked from dropping GradProSkills workshops in the Student Centre. Should you experience difficulty, please contact our office at gradproskills@concordia.ca.

In an effort to create a safe classroom where participants feel comfortable sharing their experience, and to protect the copyright of our materials, we do not record our webinars, unless otherwise stated at the beginning of the webinar. Similarly, participants are not permitted to record in-person workshops or screen-capture our webinars.
If you have accessibility needs that require you to have a recording, please contact us prior to the workshop to discuss how we can accommodate your request.
For the majority of our workshops, we do share PowerPoint slides and handouts after the workshop.
Your GradProSkills record of participation lists your participation in GradProSkills workshops. The GradProSkills record can be included in annual progress reviews with your graduate program supervisor, shown to a Professor who requires proof that you have participated in a GradProSkills workshop, or on employment and scholarship applications.
