Pain during intercourse is very common. There are many causes of this pain. There are also effective treatments.

If you experience pain during sex, book an appointment with a Health Services nurse. She will listen to your story and your symptoms, offer you guidance, and connect you with the health professionals who will be able to help you.

  • MUHC Sex and Couple Therapy: For clients with any sexual or couple related issue. Covered by RAMQ with Québec Medicare card and medical referral; see the appointment information page for the Registration Form and instructions. Should the client not be a Quebec resident, insurance companies/provincial insurance may reimburse; check before beginning therapy. Therapy is conducted by PhD candidate interns. Therapy groups may be available as well.
  • Association des sexologues du Québec: explore the listings to find the languages, training, and services offered in each therapist's description. You may choose to work with a psychologist with post graduate training in sex therapy or a clinical sexologist, depending on the coverage afforded by your health plan.
