We are thrilled to announce a notable accolade for a Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science pioneer.

Srikanta M. N. Swamy, professor and Tier I Concordia Research Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has won the prestigious 2021 IEEE Montreal Section Gold Medal.

The award recognizes an IEEE member’s long career and their impact on global technological and educational advancement. He published extensively in the areas of number theory, circuits, systems and signal processing. In addition, he is the recipient of the John Choma Education Award and the Golden Jubilee Medal in 2000 from the Circuits and Systems Society of IEEE.

Swamy is a Gina Cody School pioneer who helped shape who we are today. He served as the Founding Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1970 to 1977, and Dean of Engineering and Computer Science from 1977 to 1993. In 1980, Swamy was bestowed the IEEE fellowship for leadership in engineering education and contributions to circuits theory.

This is the first time a professor from Concordia University has been selected since the award’s inception in 2013.
