Implementation of the Learning for Impact strategic plan

This implementation plan outlines the goals developed by the Gina Cody School which are derived from the four commitments set out in the Learning for Impact strategic plan.

Teach for impact 

  1. Implement virtual labs, where appropriate, to make the learning experience more accessible. 
  2. Add AI prompt engineering into the curriculum to ensure Concordia’s engineers are ready for the workplace. 
  3. Increase engagement with work-integrated & experiential learning opportunities.
  4. Enhance the participation of industry experts in the Gina Cody School’s courses.
  5. Enhance teaching of important sustainability issues in engineering processes in courses.

Learner well-being and success

  1. Offer greater professionalization opportunities for advising staff.
  2. Organize at least one gathering of program directors and advisors to share and learn from each other to improve service.
  3. Organize teaching or research assistance support for faculty wishing to make their course more inclusive by decolonizing, infusing Black scholarship or focusing on Universal Design for Learning.

Value teaching

  1. With the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), offer workshops on awards to promote and reward teaching excellence.
  2. Promote greater participation in Scholarship of Teaching & Learning activities to share the Gina Cody School’s faculty expertise. 
  3. Offer a new award for faculty who promote research in their undergraduate teaching.
  4. Participate in CTL mentorship & Instructional Skills Workshop programs.

Promote human-centred systems

  1. Participate in Moodle enhancement project with expertise and feedback.
  2. Offer feedback on transparency efforts with IITS.
  3. Participate with the Provost’s office in streamlining curriculum change processes.
  4. Study where artificial intelligence can minimize faculty time on bureaucracy.
