Who was your thesis supervisor? Can you tell us more about them?

Szilvia Pápai introduced me to a new concept of market design that is not only about Pareto efficiency, but also about making markets fair and reducing incentives not to report the truth to the market. During my Ph.D., I was diagnosed with cancer. Thinking about fairness in the marketplace along with the value that health had in my life led me into the field of health economics.

How are you applying your degree in Economics from Concordia?

Statistical techniques in time series analysis and causality tests, thinking about fairness and truthtelling as concepts that need to be optimized beside Pareto efficiency and profit maximization.

What do you value most from your Economics experience?

Critical thinking.

Is there a particular memory that stands out from your time at Concordia?

My helpful and knowledgeable supervisor, Dr. Szilvia Pápai.

What advice would you give to someone considering graduate studies in Economics?

Work on a topic that makes the most sense in your life. Be open to different opportunities.
