Safe Serve Program
The Safe Serve Program (SSP), offered by the Office of Student Life and Engagement, certifies community members to responsibly serve alcohol at campus events. The program educates servers on reducing alcohol-related risks through safer serving practices and is mandatory for anyone who plans to serve alcohol on campus. The name of a trained server is required to book your event.
How to get certified
- Register for a 2 hour training session
- Attend the training session – after the session you will be granted access to the online test within 48 hours
- Take the Safe Serve Program exam
- Get certified: upon passing the exam, you can then be registered to events as a certified server for two years from the date you took your exam. You must have a valid piece of ID when serving
- Get renewed: Two years from your certification you will be prompted by email to do an online booster test should you wish to continue to be a server.
Before attending a training
- Review the policy on the Sale and Service of Alcohol on University Premises and regulations from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) from Hospitality Concordia.
- Starting June 1st , 2026, in compliance with Concordia's Policy on Email Accounts for Students and Employees, all community members who wish to register for a Safe Serve Program training must do so with their Concordia email address. If you require assistance activating your Concordia email address, please contact IITS at help@concordia. Please note that in order to access the training on Zoom, you will also be required to sign in with your Concordia email address.
