Vrinda Nair was a doctoral candidate in physics who researched drug design for small molecules by implementing deep learning models. Her project focused on antibiotic resistance and aimed to find new antibiotic hybrids. She holds a Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology in biotechnology and was awarded the Young Investigator Award for her bachelor's thesis project on making biocolours.
Vrinda served as treasurer for the Forum on Graduate Student Affairs at the American Physical Society. She is a published author-poet, artist, science communicator and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) mentor at the New York Academy of Sciences. She actively supported many causes, including women in STEM, supporting sci-artists and volunteered with various organisations. Her doctoral research was funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Canada Research Chairs and Concordia.
