Flu vaccine 2026-2027

Check if you’re eligible for a free flu vaccine and find out where to get vaccinated at Concordia or in the community.

What you need to know

The flu vaccine is free for people who meet the Government of Quebec’s eligibility criteria. Concordia Health Services offers free flu shots to eligible students, faculty and staff.
Booking will open at the end of October.

You can also receive the free vaccine in the community. If you're 75 or older, we recommend receiving the high-dose flu vaccine in the community. Review important information for vulnerable individuals.

If you’re not eligible for a free vaccine, you can get a flu shot in the community for a fee. Concordia Health Services recommends getting vaccinated every year, even if you're not eligible for a free vaccine.

There will be a limited number of same-day/walk-in appointments.

Flu vaccination in the community

There are many locations in the community that offer both the paid and free vaccine for you and your family. The seasonal flu vaccine is available in the community by appointment only.

How to book

  1. Book your shot using Clic Santé, using the Vaccination against respiratory viruses (flu, COVID-19, and RSV) link.
  2. Add your postal code and go through the pre-eligibility screening section.

If you're eligible for the free vaccine, select Public Establishment to avoid any extra fees. If you're an international or out-of-province student and meet the criteria, you are entitled to a free dose with no additional fees at a Public Establishment.

If you do not meet the criteria for the free vaccine, answer "no" when asked "Do you fall into one of these priority groups?" Many pharmacies are offering the paid flu vaccine.

Information for vulnerable individuals

Flu

Québec's Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux recommends that people 75 and older receive the high-dose flu vaccine (French only; use your browser extention as needed to translate).

The high-dose flu vaccine is not available at Health Services but may be available in the community. If you are 75 and older, we encourage you to get your shots in the community. You can book your appointment on ClicSanté or call 514-644-4545 to find your Local Point of Service Centre.

COVID-19, RSV, Pneumonia and Shingles vaccines

Depending on your age and health status, you may be eligible for other vaccines that can protect your health. We strongly encourage you to book an appointment with a nurse at Health Services or go to your local point of service centre to learn more.

More information about the flu vaccine

Getting the flu vaccine will reduce your chance of getting the flu or spreading it to others. If you do catch the flu, being vaccinated can make the illness less severe and you are less likely to develop complications from the flu. The flu vaccine also contributes to herd immunity.

The benefits of getting the flu vaccine far outweigh the risks of not getting it. Most side effects of the flu vaccine are minor, last only a short time and are easily-managed at home. Severe reactions are rare.
