Simulate the Future to Optimize the Present
Founded by André Diamant (CEO) and Marc-André Renaud (CSO/CTO), two Medical Physics PhDs, and their 3 advisors, Jan Seuntjens, Louis-Martin Rousseau and Nadia Lahrichi, Gray Oncology Solutions’ goal is to become the Tetris master of one of the most intricate workflows, combinations of resources and tasks required in the medical field; the oncology operating system. By “optimizing oncology workflows so that each patient receives high quality and efficient care throughout their cancer treatment,” wait time on the clinical side would be reduced, improving patient throughput and greatly lowering their anxiety levels during the process. As one of the leading causes of death in the world, and the first one in Canada, it is a crucial amelioration in this rapidly evolving medical field.

In February of 2020, just before the first COVID-19 outbreak hit Canada, André Diamant registered to the Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Development program (LSEDP), offered by the John Molson Executive Centre at Concordia. A collaborative creation between Montreal Invivo, the Life Sciences and Health Technology (LSHT) cluster, the faculty of pharmacy at Université de Montréal, and Concordia, this innovative and experiential training program was designed for those wishing to transfer their knowledge from the lab to the market, building their own business or improving their managerial skills in the LSHT industry. It helped prepare André “for the reality of the startup ecosystem in addition to facilitating numerous connections", which would be critical to Gray Oncology Solutions’ expansion once investment processes began. In March 2020, as the number of COVID-19 cases grew in Canada, André and Marc-André, like many, questioned the future of their newborn business. However, very quickly, their discussions with hospitals increased as the operational crisis in the medical world began, which led to a Federal Super Cluster Grant and a partnership with the CHUM. Shortly before graduating from the LSED program (January 2021), André began Gray Oncology Solutions’ investment process with Anges Quebec, signing a term sheet in December 2020. Fast forward to July 2021, they successfully closed their round of funding led by Anges Quebec, and with the participation of Anges Quebec Capital, Adrian Schauer, Dr. Ray Muzyka (ThresholdImpact), and University City Science Center’s Launch Lane Accelerator & Apstat Technologies.
