A teaching dossier helps promotion, renewal and awards committees learn about your major teaching accomplishments. It is a tool for self-reflection and a means of documenting your evolution as a teacher.

There are many circumstances under which you might need to prepare a teaching dossier including application for tenure, contract renewal, and a teaching award. What you include in your teaching dossier will depend on the purpose of the dossier and the specific requirements set out by the committee reviewing the dossier. However, in general, it includes a Teaching Philosophy Statement, descriptions of teaching and learning activities and sample materials, and other support documents that serve as evidence of teaching effectiveness.
