Preparing a teaching dossier and teaching philosophy statement
A teaching dossier helps promotion, renewal and awards committees learn about your major teaching accomplishments. It is a tool for self-reflection and a way to document your evolution as a teacher.

Teaching Award Dossier Development Program
This multi-session program is intended for those who seek to develop a compelling teaching dossier for the purpose of applying for an internal or external teaching award. Over the course of the program, participants will delve into the essential components of crafting a compelling teaching dossier tailored for award nominations. It is recommended that participants attend all three sessions although it is not required.

Resources
The following resources will help you develop your dossier.
There are many circumstances under which you might need to prepare a teaching dossier including application for tenure, contract renewal, and a teaching award. What you include in your teaching dossier will depend on the purpose of the dossier and the specific requirements set out by the committee reviewing the dossier. However, in general, it includes a Teaching Philosophy Statement, descriptions of teaching and learning activities and sample materials, and other support documents that serve as evidence of teaching effectiveness.
For assistance with developing your dossier or feedback on your dossier, contact the CTL for a consultation.
The range of items to include in a dossier varies greatly among faculty members and between departments so be sure to consult with your department chair, colleagues and promotion/tenure committee for specific instructions. More details about requirements for each faculty can be found on Carrefour.
