Our first years out of university and into our careers can be roller coasters of rejection, successes, disappointment, joys, boredom and triumph. We are often juggling big adventures outside of our work, too, in terms of love, independence, and professional development. It can be tough to find a sense of balance in the midst of so much change. In this session, you will learn some helpful strategies for intentionally developing your resilience through cultivating a positive outlook, managing setbacks, and focusing on areas of personal control. By learning from research about what your first years on the job might be like, and preparing in advance, you will be more ready to navigate the transition from school to work, and more prepared to thrive.

Facilitator: Megan Webster, B.A.H., B.Ed, M.A., and Ph.D

Megan is an instructional coach, a teacher educator, and professional development (PD) consultant. In partnership with scholars at Vanderbilt University and the University of Washington, Megan supported two major urban school districts in the U.S. who aimed to radically improve instruction in their districts. Megan now coaches consultants, principals, and educational leaders in school boards across Quebec. In recognition for her work as a teacher, she was awarded the Prime Minister’s Teaching Award. Megan brings great energy, humor, passion, and rigor to the work before her; participants leave sessions with her empowered and ready for action.

A Zoom link will be sent to students who register.
