About the host organization
Since 2018, Press Start Coop has been cultivating an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, non- hierarchical “by youth, for youth” community
space and arcade in Pointe Saint-Charles. We are currently based out of Bâtiment 7, inTiohtià:ke / Montréal.
Programs and activities include:
- Arcade space overseen by four youth, open to the community
- Hip Hop as Resistance, a yearly event
- Up-cycling workshops
- Community cooking for the community fridge
- Mentorship program
- Employability program
- Workshops: Think Global, Act Local
- and so much more.
Responsibilities
- Plan, promote and facilitate up-cycling workshops, 4 workshops (or more)
- Plan, promote and facilitate 3 collective cooking workshops
- Work with Press Start team to plan, promote and implement Hip Hop as Resistance event in the Fall (1 day event)
- Participate in weekly coordinator meetings (once a week, online)
- Participate in youth meetings to facilitate and engage them in planning Hip Hop as Resistance
- Develop promotion materials and outreach tools
Assets and requirements
You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the fall 2026 term.
- Experience with planning events and activities (essential)
- Understanding of the application of anti-oppressive practices & non-hierarchical structures (ideal)
- Ability to work independently (essential)
- Experience working with youth (ideal)
- Capacity to work in English and French (ideal)
- Available to work on at least one day each week on weekends (essential)
- Experience working or lives in the South-West of Montreal (optional)
Duration
September 8, 2026 - November 27, 2026 (12 weeks)
These dates could be negotiated between the intern and the host organization. Internships might be renewed for up to 3 terms if that is of interest to both the student and the host.
Location/site of employment
- Site of work: Hybrid (75% on-site, 25% online)
- Address(es): 1900 rue Le Ber
Note: Interns are invited to come work at SHIFT's co-working space (LB-145) between 10-4 throughout the work week.
Working style
Independence: This role is well suited to students who enjoy taking initiative and learning through hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to independently manage projects and contribute meaningfully to the organization's work.
Support: You'll have scheduled opportunities for guidance and feedback, with additional support available as needed.
Hours
240 hours total, 20 hours a week

$5,000
