About the host organization
The Amal Center for Women is a Montreal-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting marginalized women and families through culturally sensitive, trauma-informed psycho-social services. Since our founding in 2004, we have empowered thousands of Muslim, BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee women by helping them overcome challenges such as domestic violence, poverty, and mental health issues. At Amal, our mission is to create a community where every woman and girl can live free from violence, poverty, and fear.
Responsibilities
Work with the Commuications team on the following:
- Create social media postings
- Create annual reports
- Create presentation slide decks
- Create newsletters on mailchip
- Manage and maintain the social media channels
Assets and requirements
You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the fall 2026 term.
- Knowledge of Canva, social media platforms, mailchimp
- Knowledge of Square Space a plus
- Bilingualism (French and English) a plus.
Duration
September 8, 2026 - November 27, 2026 (12 weeks)
These dates could be negotiated between the intern and the host organization. Internships might be renewed for up to 3 terms if that is of interest to both the student and the host.

Note: Interns are invited to come work at SHIFT's co-working space (LB-145) between 10-4 throughout the work week.
Working style
Independence: This role offers a balance of independent work and guidance. Students will have opportunities to take ownership of their work while receiving support as they build confidence, develop new skills, and contribute to the organization's work.
Support: You'll have scheduled opportunities for guidance and feedback, with additional support available as needed.
Hours
120 hours total, 10 hours a week
Remuneration
$2,500
