About the host organization
LI-BER-T House is a charitable organization committed to helping adult women leaving rehabilitation centers (jail/rehab) who are returning to an active life in society. Our mission is to alleviate poverty, reduce the risk of homelessness and avoid risky lifestyles among these women. LI-BER-T House offers its clients a safe housing alternative, the tools they need to stay clean and sober, and support for their reintegration into society by enabling them to become self-sufficient through learning, personalized accompaniment and quality service.
Responsibilities
- Preparing activities - recreational, physical, ie: evening walks (bring your ideas to the table)
- Accompany residents to meetings and/or appointments
- Participating in and contributing to strategic discussions
- Supervising the community to assure rules are respected
- Developing an evaluation system to track results
Assets and requirements
You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the fall 2026 term.
- Experience / interest in the community sector; particularly in carceral reform, transitional housing, women’s rights / mental health and addiction
- Organized and proactive
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - French is a plus
- Discretion and sound judgment
Duration
September 8, 2026 - November 27, 2026 (12 weeks)
These dates could be negotiated between the intern and the host organization. Internships might be renewed for up to 3 terms if that is of interest to both the student and the host.

Note: Interns are invited to come work at SHIFT's co-working space (LB-145) between 10-4 throughout the work week.
Working style
Independence: This role offers a balance of independent work and guidance. Students will have opportunities to take ownership of their work while receiving support as they build confidence, develop new skills, and contribute to the organization's work.
Support: You can expect regular check-ins, ongoing feedback, and readily available support from your supervisor.
Hours
240 hours total, 20 hours a week
Remuneration
$5,000
