Insurance for dependents
The International Students Office (ISO) does not offer health insurance for your dependents. We highly recommend that you purchase health insurance for spouses and children who are accompanying you to Canada.
Health insurance for spouses

Remember: you – the international student – must be covered by the Blue Cross Health Insurance Plan for Concordia International Students, even if your dependents or spouses are covered by another insurance provider. It is the responsibility of the student to verify the coverage of the individual plans.
Quebec health insurance for children
As an international student, you are a temporary resident of Canada. Children under 18 who accompany you are eligible for Quebec’s health insurance plan, the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ). Even if they were not born in Quebec, your children eligible if:
- You have established your main residence in Quebec.
- You are temporarily staying in Quebec for more than six months, and your children live with you in Quebec.
- They have no legal status in Canada.
- Refugee claimants are not eligible for RAMQ but may qualify for the Federal Interim Health Insurance plan.
Children are eligible for RAMQ immediately upon meeting the requirements; there is no waiting period.
How to register your child with the RAMQ
- Register online, follow the prompts for your situation. You will select "Child under age 18".
- You must have a Quebec address
- You will have to scan and submit documents for your child.
