Marius Paraschivoiu graduated with a BEng and MASc in mechanical engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1991 and 1993, respectively. He received a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA in 1998.
Marius Paraschivoiu has joined Concordia University as an Associate Professor in the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in 2003. He was formally an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He was promoted to the rank of professor at Concordia University in 2010. Between 2018 and 2020 he served as Associate Dean, Academic Affairs in the Gina Cody School of engineering and computer science.
Marius’ research education was focused on developing algorithm for more accurate simulations in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). He has published over 60 journal articles in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Between June 2006 and June 2016, he held a Concordia University Research Chair Tier II entitled “Simulations for Clean Energy Production and Storage”.
From 2008 to 2010 Dr. Paraschivoiu was the President of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering and from 2008 to 2011 he was the Director of Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI). In 2017 he became Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada. Since July 2017, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering published by Canadian Science Publishing.
