Eligibility

You must be admitted to a PhD program at Concordia University and be supervised by a professor involved in a Volt-Age project (Living Labs or Impact Projects).

Value

Valued at $35,000 per year for four years, resulting in a total award value of $140,000.

Please note that by accepting the Volt-Age Fellowship, you are agreeing to decline all other awards, research bursaries, and research assistantships previously offered to you for the same funding period, with the following exceptions:

Student awards offered by the Tri-agency (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR)
Student awards offered by FRQ (FRQNT, FRQSC, FRSQ)
Student awards offered by Mitacs
International Tuition Award of Excellence
Research bursaries from Volt-Age grants
Research assistantships from Volt-Age grants
U.S. and international awards obtained from home country
Teaching Assistantships
Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC)
Indigenous Graduate Scholarship
IBET Momentum Fellowship ($10,000 component)
Concordia Black Student Excellence Doctoral Entrance Award ($10,000 component)

Apply by following the instructions outlined in the How to Apply section.

If selected for a project, the supervising professor will nominate you for the Volt-Age fellowship. Upon confirmation, you will begin receiving the stipend.

Disbursement process

Scholarship payments are issued five (5) working days after the DNE date of each term, once full-time registration is confirmed, unless otherwise specified in your award notification.
Payments are made directly to your student account and applied to outstanding tuition and fees. If a credit balance remains in the account, you may request a refund by cheque through your Student Centre.
Cheques are automatically mailed to your address on file within 10 business days after you have requested a refund.

Denis Faubert Doctoral Fellowship

Named in honour of Dr. Denis Faubert, this fellowship is awarded to the Volt-Age doctoral applicant with the highest GPA whose research most closely aligns with Dr. Faubert’s pioneering work in defence, energy, and aerospace innovation.

Dr. Faubert’s distinguished career spans both public and private sectors, including leadership roles as CEO of CRIAQ and CARIC, General Manager of Hydro-Québec’s Research Institute (IREQ), and Scientific Advisor to the Canadian Armed Forces. A passionate advocate for collaborative R&D, he continues to shape Canada’s innovation landscape as an advisor to Scale AI.
