You may audition either in-person in Montréal or via video submission. Either way, your application will be assessed equitably.
After completing the online admission application to Concordia University, connect to the Contemporary Dance pre-audition questionnaire.
Step 4: Prepare your audition/interview
IN-PERSON AUDITION (in Montréal)
Select the option to do an in-person audition in the pre-audition questionnaire. From the drop down menu, select a date (March 11 or 12).
The audition will consist of a 75-minute group class in contemporary technique, and a 90 minute guided choreographic process session where you will develop solo material After a short lunch break, you will perform your new solo in front of the whole group. You will then take part in a 15-minute one-on-one interview with a faculty member. NOTE: there is no need to prepare choreography material in advance.
VIDEO AUDITION
You will be guided through a series of exercises and instructions for your video audition. The video material must be presented in the following order with title introduction to each section.
- Introduce yourself to the camera
- Technique exercises in the order of presentation
- Improvisation without music. 2-3 minutes.
- Solo choreographed and performed by you for this audition. Maximum 3 minutes.
- Interview: respond to questions on the pre-audition questionnaire.
