The Doctoral Student Internship Program pairs current doctoral students with part-time internship positions in Concordia administrative offices. Recognizing the evolving career paths of PhD graduates, the School of Graduate Studies designed this program to provide valuable work experience in higher education administration, equipping students with valuable professional skills.

There is one internship opportunity for the winter 2026 term. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 21, at 5 p.m.
Available internship positions are posted three times per year, during the fall, winter and summer terms. Please carefully review the application instructions before applying.

Academic Recovery Program Design intern

Internship description
The Student Success Centre seeks a doctoral intern to develop a new Back on Track summer 2026 program for undergraduate students placed on conditional or failed standing following academic assessment. Building upon existing Student Learning Services resources and complementing our student-centered approach, the intern will contribute to the development of a research-informed, engaging program that helps students regain acceptable academic standing. This project-based internship offers experience in program design, curriculum development, and student success strategy within a higher education context, contributing directly to Concordia’s mission to foster student success and retention.
Responsibilities
- Review best practices and literature on academic recovery and probation programs in higher education.
- Analyze Concordia’s current and previous academic probation and readmission initiatives.
- In collaboration with Student Learning Services, develop a structured Back on Track program model, learning outcomes, and summer 2026 delivery plan.
- Design learning modules, activities, and support materials.
- Consult with key campus partners (Academic Advising, Student Learning Services, Career Counselling and Educational Transitions, etc.) for feedback and alignment.
- Prepare a final report summarizing findings, program design, and recommendations for pilot implementation.

Step 1. Application phase
You must send your resume and cover letter to the DSIP inbox at dsip@concordia.ca. In the subject line, clearly indicate the position code of the internship position for which you are applying. Attach your resume and cover letter as one document (.PDF, .DOCX) using the naming format “Last name – first name – position code”
If you are applying for more than one internship position, you must send a separate email and application for each position.
The deadline to submit your application is Friday, November 21, 5 p.m. EST, for all of the internship applications listed.
Please note that by applying to a DSIP internship, you allow us to share your application internally for other potential opportunities.
Step 2. Selection phase
Once you have sent your resume and cover letter to the DSIP inbox, the DSIP program coordinator will share your application with the unit. At this stage of the application process, the unit will be responsible for any further communication. If you are selected for an interview, the unit will contact you directly to schedule an interview before the end of the fall term. They may also request references and additional documents to validate your qualifications.
Step 3. Offer phase
If you’ve reached this stage, it means you were selected for the internship position – congratulations! The unit will send you an offer letter to be reviewed and signed. The unit will provide further information and instruction regarding your internship.

How it works
Concordia University units will post available internship positions on this webpage three times per year to recruit doctoral interns for the fall, winter and summer terms.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the doctoral student internship program you must be a current PhD Concordia student in good academic standing. This status is required for the full duration of the internship. For international students, you must have a valid student permit that allows you to work up to 20 hours on campus.
