CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

Help create an intellectually inspiring and engaging environment by providing collections and services fundamental to academic success, creation, the advancement of knowledge, and lifelong learning.

About the library

Serving more than 50,000 students, 7,000 faculty and staff and 193,000 alumni, as well as members of the external community, the Concordia Library receives more than two million visits a year.

The Library's digital collections are available 24/7, and more than 85% of our collection expenditures in recent years have gone toward electronic resources.

We are committed to serving society, supporting discovery and the freedom of speech and intellectual inquiry. We seek to be agile, responsive to users' needs and expectations, and recognize the strength of personal interaction to assist, teach and empower.

Your support will help us welcome change, innovation and collaboration with those internal and external to the Concordia community.

Serving Concordians during COVID-19

Protecting the health and stafely during the pandemic requires a significant change to the way we operate, but we continue to serve our students and support education and research at Concordia. This includes:

  • Contactless pickup service for books, DVDs, CDs and other items in our collection. Books are automatically renewed every 30 days unless otherwise specified;
  • Expanded Scan and Deliver service, where articles and chapters can be scanned and emailed as PDFs on request;
  • Select study spaces made available by advance registration, to be used only when silent study at home is not possible;
  • Virtual assistance from librarians and members of the library team by email, live chat and video.
Our staff look forward to seeing everyone in person when the Library is able to fully reopen!

Why your gift matters

Gifts of all sizes are warmly appreciated!

Private support helps guide the long-term growth of the Library, expanding programs such as Open Educational Resources, Concordia University Press, the Spectrum Research Repository and the Open Access Authors Fund. It helps us keep pace with today's rapid digital evolution through the Technology Sandbox and Visualization Studio.

Above all, it helps us keep our collections up to date. On average, items in our collections cost:

  • $50 for a digital book in the humanities;
  • $100 for a digital book in the sciences or engineering;
  • $1,000 for an electronic journal subscription;
  • $1,500 for new laptops, tablets or desktop computers;
  • $2,500 for a database subscription.
The population we serve is growing, their needs are evolving and our goals are ambitious. Please give generously today!

Help create an intellectually inspiring and engaging environment by providing collections and services fundamental to academic success, creation, the advancement of knowledge, and lifelong learning.

We welcome the opportunity to help make your philanthropic priorities a reality.
