Description of host organization
Recycla is an immigrant women youth-led social enterprise committed to tackling plastic pollution through three core pillars:
- Fostering education about the plastic crisis though experiential educational workshops and events
- Youth advocacy to engage youth in policy making
- Developing research and innovation to close the loop in the 3D printing industry by commercializing 100% recycled PLA filament.
Through these interconnected efforts, Recycla strives to empower youth, foster community-led environmental stewardship, and promote sustainable economic development so that eco-anxiety can be shifted to eco-empowerment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, shooting, editing and publishing video content
- Create posters for digital and printed campaigns to raise awareness the plastic crisis
- Support the creation of short-form content for platforms
- Help manage media assets and organize footage
- Contribute with fresh ideas for visual storytelling and content strategy
Assets and requirements
- You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the summer 2026 term.
- Interest in sustainability issues and addressing the plastic crisis
- Experience with Canva or another tool to create posters
- Basic experience with the Capcut video production and editing tools
- Familiarity with social media trends and video formats
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Not a requirement but paid ads experience is welcomed
Duration
May 11, 2026 – August 7, 2026 (12 weeks)
Note: Specific dates can be negotiated between the intern and the host organization.
Location/site of employment : Hybrid
Mostly remote and at times in person for the video recordings. Locations will be decided in alignment with the intern's ideas.
All interns are also welcome to join us at our co-working space at the SHIFT Centre (LB-145) throughout the work week.
Hours
180 hours total (~15 hours/week)
There is potential to renew the internship for up to 3 terms, provided you remain eligible and both host organization and intern wish to continue.
Remuneration
$3,750
Please note that SHIFT payments are made as honorariums issued in 2 installments: one at mid-semester, and the other at the end.
